Ridiculous to be a fan of somewhere I've never even been, but having been one of my old man's most frequented watering holes, I want to pledge my support and do anything I can to keep it going.

Please save this club: I want to become a member! Without clubs such as this one and The Eccentric Club, where would the creative folk of London and beyond go to relax, chat and drink. I've put a supporting link on my own website: www.inclusifolk.com Eccentrically. Colin Shaddick. (The Great British Eccentric of the Year 2009.)

I feel really lucky to have been a guest at the Colony in the spring of 08 while visiting from Canada. One of my best memories of my first trip to London and a crying shame that it has had to close. Good luck!

It is imperative that in this bland time of indifference, corporate greed, control and neglect, restriction of creativity must never be allowed to proceed and with that in mind, we must defend any institution, however small or large , against the machinations of the blowholes who tyrannise free speech and thought. In other words, don't bar me entry again chaps and lets move forward as one. Save it for everyone. Tata Kev

As a member of the Kunstenaarssociƫteit De Kring in Amsterdam I fully support your campaign to save the Colony Room as a haven of art and debauchery in an ocean of shallow greed and deep ugliness.

I can't say that I have ever been to the colony room, but I have read some marvellous magazine articles documenting the decadent goings-on of this infamous soho joint. As an artist myself, the very fact that many of my idols whom I aspire to have famously frequented the place as notoriously regular regulars is enough for me to endorse the petition to keep such a wonderful den of vice and sin alive, untouched by bureaucracy and philistines. God help the colony room club.

In this age of bland sanitised chains such as Weatherspoon and All Bar One. The corporate chain happy hour. On message new Labour spin doctors and their ever expanding planning departments taking backhanders from on- the- take developers. Who want to transform London in to some sterile style supplement in a Wallpaper spread. There is a desperate need for that last bastion of cultural bonhomie and decadence in a Soho that is fact becoming a cultural desert overspilling with shallow fashionistas sipping espressos and expensive designer beers. Save the Colony! Long may it live! It's the last bastion of Soho's cultural heritage and history. A bohemian home from home for artists and their friends.

It is such a wonderfully seedy den of possible iniquity it really must be saved - there is nothing like it left and there are too few places one actually wants to have a drink in and this is top of the list!

It is quite outrageous that one man can consider that art donated to the Colony Room Club is his for the taking when thankfully, it has been established that they were donated for the club to be viewed by its patrons. I am pleasantly surprised that the London Mayor has taken on the mantle of viewing, as so many do, this club in high regard ,as it is steeped in history & therefore warrants National Heritage status. Long Live the Colony Club!

Having known of the Colony Room since my earliest days in Soho in 1957, of which it is the only surviving reminder, I would be very sorry if its survival were to be cut short. It is still full of life - and is such a small space to spare.

To close The Colony would be a tragedy, it's position as a meeting place, and melting pot, for artists, writers and poets, for the last sixty years, is unsurpassed. Let it continue for decades more, The Colony, is a national treasure, and must be saved.
